I have taken two more classes related to conducting health care research. The first class was on critical appraisal of quantitative research and the second was evidence-based research. Both courses were well taught and I think I gained a lot from them. One interesting thing that I noticed is that I learn quite a bit from watching and listening to the other students who are almost always doctors or nurses. In fact, after taking all four classes offered by the library, I think that I learned a lot more than I would have learned if the courses were meant for librarians instead of our readers.

Research is invaluable for health professionals and patient care. I've come to see that I not only need to know how to search databases and do critical appraisal to get readers the information they need, but I need to think like a health professional myself. I need to do this because that's the only way I can provide my readers with the best service. I also need to think this way for my own health and well being. This experience has taught me how important it is to be open to reader input.
